Lausanne Tourisme

My Lausanne

2023

This is a project I created during a workshop at CREA in cooperation with the creative agency Messieurs.ch and Lausanne Tourisme. We had four weeks to create a video for the tourism website for Lausanne, Switzerland. Our task was to find something that is typical for Lausanne and make a video about it.

I worked in a group of three and we create a video where we both mocked and praised the Lausanne's. In Switzerland, the Lausanne's are said to live a slow lifestyle. At the same time Lausanne is the Olympic capital. We used this oxymoron to create a video where we show that the Lausanne's are said to be so slow, because they are all Olympians who wake up early to finish their sport before they go to work. Lausanne Tourisme accepted our video and put it on their website.

Directing a video shoot offers invaluable practice in numerous essential skills that are applicable across various industries and disciplines. Firstly, it hones leadership abilities as you take charge of coordinating and guiding the entire production team, ensuring everyone is working towards a common vision and goal. This experience fosters effective communication and delegation skills, vital for any leadership role. Additionally, directing a video shoot requires strong organizational skills, from pre-production planning to post-production editing, helping to develop meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Moreover, it cultivates creativity and problem-solving skills as you navigate unforeseen challenges and find innovative solutions to achieve your desired outcome. Directing a video shoot also enhances teamwork and collaboration, as you work closely with various professionals, including camera operators, actors, editors, and sound technicians, to bring your vision to life. Overall, directing a video shoot provides hands-on experience that not only enhances technical proficiency but also fosters personal and professional growth, making it an excellent practice for individuals aspiring to excel in the dynamic field of visual storytelling.
